EXP SYSTEM, NEW ENEMIES and POLISH


I've been working on Cursed Mansion again for the past few months to patch it up and I was planning to add items (powerups that give you fun and unique abilities). Everything seemed to work as planned first, and I was having a blast adding new abilities to the game. I then asked people to playtest, and with the help of a playtester, I came to the conclusion that those items were not meant for the game, they worked against the core combat of the game.  I scrapped the items, but they can still be spawned in game for fun.

 It is important to note here that I wanted to add those items to add something to the game, and that something was the feeling I usually get when playing roguelikes, the one where you hope to get a good item, to see what RNG sends your way. I felt this was missing from the game. This feeling can also be considered a sort of greed in my opinion. I also felt the game didn't have enough player choice, aside from buying in shops. 

My next move was to add an EXP system, and I don't know why I never gave this option more consideration, but it is a perfect match for Cursed Mansion. It made every fight feel like it was worth something and it also fixed another design flaw in regards to the level generation. That flaw was that bigger floors had a lot of rooms that the player didn't have to clear. The EXP gives an option to the player, one to either farm more EXP by clearing those rooms, or taking a safer path. The EXP solves my player choice issue in another way as well. When leveling up, the player gets to choose between the main three upgrades.

I also added a couple of enemies I had in mind to add more variety to the roster The fire spiders set the floor on fire, the skeleton heads can spawn from skeletons or by themselves and bounce around with a deadly attack and finally the radioactive spiders shoot back at the player upon dying.

ALL SCRAPPED ITEMS CAN STILL BE TRIED OUT IN GAME BY PRESSING ONE OF THESE NUMBERS : 5,6,7,8,9,0

This is probably the end of Cursed Mansion Updates, I will try to move on to other projects.
